14 DH 86 TYPE HISTORY
By the early 1930s, whilst the sun had yet
to set on the British Empire, it was well into
mid-afternoon. The march of progress,
worldwide, highlighted the need for more
swift communication between the ‘Mother
Country’ and the far-fl ung territories on
which the sun ‘never set’.

White Sheet Scale Fly-In

42 NIEUPORT 28 TYPE HISTORY
This late WW1 French fighter type was
never adopted by the air arm of its
country of origin, but is forever associated
with the early days of U.S. military aviation.
The French sold it to their Allies without
guns, which was a fat lot of good!
48 NIEUPORT 28
FLYING COLOURS
Flamboyant colour schemes of the
American Expeditionary Force in WW1
and after.
50 LIGHTEN UP!
So often, the simple methods are the best.
Tissue paper has been a staple model
aircraft covering since Pontius was even
a free flight Pilot and this method of
achieving a surface finish is certainly the
lightest.
52 SPORT SCALE MASTERCLASS
PART 25: Gordon Whitehead deals with
flight testing and general handling.
60 MILES M.38 MESSENGER
PART 2: Peter Shaw continues the
