Home Farmer Magazine  |  January 2016 issue
The January issue of Home Farmer is a balanced seasonal mix of growing veg, recipes, livestock and DIY, with a fabulous and tempting, but very ambitious project to build a yurt from woodsman, Ben Law, tips on beating clubroot in your brassicas, preparing now for a bumper harvest later in the year, growing heart-friendly veg, forcing rhubarb and heirloom seed and plants. Our recipes this month recipes include some super and flexible ideas for using today’s waste to make great new meals tomorrow (including an innovative one using potato peelings from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall), top advice on freezing excess eggs, and all our usual seasonal preserving and preparing suggestions, and hens (in a feature from the British Hen Welfare Trust), quail, guinea fowl, goats sheep and bees all make up our livestock session. It’s probably the best way of making use of all those dark and miserable winter days, as you stock up on ideas to make the most of the forthcoming New Year. We hope you all enjoy it as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
Have a great 2016 from all the team at Home Farmer!
