• 2 medium red onions, peeled and finely sliced
• 4 cloves garlic, peeled and finely chopped
• 60 ml (¼ cup) water
• 175g (1 cup) cherry tomatoes, halved
• 1 tbsp capers, drained
• 1 tbsp black olives, pitted and chopped
• 400g tin chopped tomatoes
• 470ml (2 cups) vegetable stock
• 2 tsp balsamic vinegar
• 1 tsp sugar (optional)
• 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (optional)
• ½.-1 tsp chilli flakes (optional)
• 280g spaghetti (or gluten free pasta)
