Q What is enlightenment?
Enlightenment, for me, is simply being aware of what is real and what is not; what is true and what is false; and what is reality and what is fantasy. To my mind, it’s the natural, innate ability that we all have to notice and become aware of the images that we create and imagine about the past and the future.
When the mind is in the future, there is fear, and when it is in the past, there is sometimes depression. But wisdom, creativity and all the answers to our questions are in the present. That’s the difference between the enlightened mind and the unenlightened mind. It’s so simple. Enlightenment is to always be in touch with ‘self’, not ‘false selves’ of the past or the potential future.
