Star letter

FROM THE HEART

I read ‘Dearly not departed’ (September) with amusement. It reminded me of a letter I’d written to my mother to tell her what she meant to me. I smiled as I posted it, knowing she’d feel embarrassed. A few days later, the phone rang. My mother’s first words were: ‘What’s wrong?’ I told her I was fine and reiterated my sentiments. She brushed these aside and concentrated on checking I was OK.
