Wood lends itself to being recycled because of its longevity and malleability, which means it can be reinvented for many lifetimes. Use old floorboards to clad walls or make headboards or doors. Breathe new life into a wooden piece with a coat of paint or make a display of objects from our agricultural or industrial past that tells a story.
Although wood is tactile in its own way, adding different textures, such as sheepskin rugs, natural cotton furnishings and woollen throws will add a cosy feel when we most need comforting as the nights draw in.
