Welcome to the October edition of Speciality Food. As I write this,
I'm still bursting with enthusiasm from the team's recent visit to the Speciality & Fine Food Fair at Olympia. It was my first time at the event, and I was, quite frankly, overwhelmed by how huge it was. A complete assault on the senses. Not only was it fantastic to meet so many visitors and clients at our stand, but I loved walking
around, discovering new and established producers, and seeing
the innovation that's happening all over the UK (in what are very difficult trading times). Key upward trends I noticed included
more snacking and drinks options that fall in line with HFSS
legislation, the increased use of so-called 'superfoods' such as
turmeric and adaptogenics, and some more thought about gutfriendly ingredients. The food landscape is always changing,
which is, I think, what makes it so exciting!
