One of the UK’s highest-selling county magazines is the Dalesman, edited by Adrian Braddy. The monthly A5 publication is a celebration of the county of Yorkshire, in particular its countryside, but is not a lifestyle magazine. It has readers worldwide. Adrian is always happy to hear from new writers with ideas for quirky, unusual and humorous Yorkshire-themed feature articles with the emphasis on the positive. Feature lengths are usually 800 and 1,000 words, but sometimes up to 1,800. Adrian prefers a words-and-pictures package. Send him an outline of ideas and samples of work. Payment is £70 per 1,000 words and the picture rate varies.
