The Rhythm & Blues logo extends its series of R&B instrumental compilations into 1963 with 16 workouts that go admirably heavy on bluesy guitar groovers. Wild Jimmy Spruill’s Cut And Dried, Little Milton’s Meddlin’, and Long John Hunter’s The Scratch all spotlight their respective bandleader’s fret mastery, while Johnny Otis and Jimmy McCracklin turn in reliable romps, as do organist James Booker and Connecticutbased Sam Kimble.
