Well Being Journal  |  March/April 2015
The March/April 2015 issue features a letter to government officials by members of the Healthy Nation Coalition examining the USDA's Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The letter highlights the lack of scientific evidence for the Guidelines as long as it has been in effect, and it urges that changes be made. One challenge is to the belief that diets high in refined carbohydrates, such as the one suggested by the USDA, are healthy. George Gould, M.D., warned against the adverse health effects of such diets back in 1910, and we publish here a glimpse of his experience in removing these foods from his patients diets. Alvin Danenberg, D.D.S., gives evidence from a clinical study and patient testimonials showing the addition of high-nutrient supplements reverses gum disease. Along with the use of diet modification and supplementation Connie Strasheim tells her story of how changes in her mind, body, and lifestyle helped her heal from adrenal fatigue and ultimately lyme disease. Also, a delicious duo of healing stock recipes, the beauty of simplicity and stillness, the health and environmental benefits of bicycle commuting, and so much more are in this issue of Well Being Journal, which we hope you enjoy!
