JEMMA REEKIE: THREE BRITISH RECORDS IN ONE WEEK
The 21-year-old superstar’s extraordinary hat-trick
British athlete Jemma Reekie broke the British records for the indoor mile and indoor 1500m at the Millrose Games in New York in February.
The 21-year-old Scotswoman ran the Wanamaker Mile in just 4 minutes 17.88 seconds, breaking the record previously held by training partner Laura Muir by almost a second.
While Reekie’s time was the fifth-fastest indoor mile in history, in this instance it was only good enough for third place in the race, won by Elle Purrier in an American record of 4:16.85.
