HELP IS OUT THERE
The simplest way to check if you’ve identified your pelvic floor muscles correctly is to insert your finger into your vagina, do a pelvic floor squeeze and see if you feel the vagina contracting. There are other ways of checking if the right muscles are squeezing, increasing the strength of the contractions and reducing leaks
• Biofeedback devices. These tell you if you’re doing your PFEs effectively. The most basic is a tampon-shaped device with a small rod attached to it. If you squeeze correctly the rod will rise and as the muscles relax, it falls. More expensive options include vaginal probes with pressure sensors which detect muscle contraction. A popular model is the Elvie which links to an app on your phone and gives you immediate feedback as to the length and strength of your muscle contractions.
