Woodcarving  |  Nov-Dec 2012
Woodcarving 129 sees the long-awaited winner of International Woodcarver of The Year plus the runners up and winners of the competition’s individual categories. Other features include Chris Conoley’s story of his father Patrick – a stone carver who despite his prodigious talents, remained almost unheard of throughout his lifetime, Michael Painter’s ‘Diary of a Professional Woodcarver’ and Ben Hawthorne’s tale from the workshop.
Projects include a cyclist and his bike, a reclining abstract form and Mike Wood is carving a beautiful greenshank. Chris Pye creates a frog carving on a bowl and Peter Clothier carves a wonderful hobbyhorse. This issue also sees the first of four maquette articles, this time focusing on drawings, models and moulds.
On test this month are Mastercarver’s Flex-shaft set, Axminster’s WD16F pillar drill and of course a variety of tools and equipment in the ‘Carver’s Toolbag’.
