‘I came late to writing as a career,’ says Anne Youngson, whose debut novel, Meet Me at the Museum, was published in May by Doubleday. ‘Though I have written all my life, in idle moments, but most of my time, after a degree in English literature, was spent working in the motor industry, in the product development division of Rover Group and then Land Rover. Only after early retirement, and alongside consultancy in schools and charities involved with skills development, did I start to take writing seriously enough to work at it, consistently and with the aim of getting better.
