From the OTHE SIDE OF THE DESK
Changing sides
Literary agent Piers Blofeld gets a taste of life on the other side of the other side of the desk
Ihave a confession to make. This column is called ‘The other side of the desk’ and is (mostly) about trying to communicate how the business of writing and getting published looks like from an agent’s perspective. It’s about demystifying and humanizing: agents are people too!
However for the last couple of years I have had an agent myself. I know, shocking – what’s more, as of last month I have a book deal and I thought it might be interesting to write about the experience of working with an agent and what having a book on submission is like: it’s the other side of the other side of the desk if you like.
