ANDREW HUNTER MURRAY
The author tells Adrian Magson how an idea that came out of the blue turned into a high-concept thriller
ANDREW’S TOP TIPS
• Keep going!
• Write little and often.
• It’s an achievement to get anything written at all, no matter what stage you get to.
• Don’t worry if people ask you why you haven’t sold your novel, or if you’re not selling like Rowling, or why you’re still fooling around with the margins.
• The margins are fine; leave them alone and have fun in the wide-open spaces in between
‘The idea was a bolt from the blue,’ admits this month’s debut author Andrew Hunter Murray, speaking about his thriller The Last Day – published by Penguin Random House in February. ‘I wish I could describe it at greater length than that – but that’s really how it felt.’
