The film-maker turned crime writer tells Lynne Hackles about creating his neurodivergent detective

Tim Sullivan had established careers as a film director and screenwriter before fulling his ambition to be a published crime writer. ‘Now you are a novelist will you have time to direct films and write screenplays? Or is your plan now to write novels full-time?’ I ask him. ‘I’m still writing screenplays and will continue to do so,’ he says. ‘I’ve a couple of long-term projects I’m working on and a new animated feature I hope will find its way into production in the not too distant future.’ Tim’s film credits include A Handful of Dust, Jack and Sarah and Cold Feet. His passion for crime fiction began when he directed Jeremy Brett’s portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes.
