For some people May marks the end of spring, but I like to think of it as the start of summer – let’s face it we’ve waited long enough for it this year. And one of the beauties of May is that it gives us not just one but two bank holiday weekends to get to grips with all those decorating and gardening jobs we’ve been meaning to do over the last few months. In this issue we’ve got some great ideas for adding scented plants to your garden to make it a sensory delight and we’re even giving away free sweet pea plants to every reader too (just pay p&p). And if you are planning on having a barbecue in your garden over the coming weeks, make sure you check out our mouth-watering home-made burger recipes on p.100 – you’ll find recipes for meat-eaters and veggies alike, I particularly like the fillet of fish recipe, it’s really yummy. Those of you who are planning a spot of decorating over the bank holiday weekends will find lots of inspiration in this issue, from our Hamptons-style colour schemes (p.20) to our clever ideas to make a rented home feel like your own (p38). We’ve also got some smart ideas to max out the space in tiny bathrooms (p.54) and some inspiring real life kitchen makeovers that don’t break the bank (p.26). Whether you plan to spend the coming weeks gardening, cooking or decorating, I hope the sun shines for you and that you still find time to relax and enjoy the bank holidays ahead.
