Let me take you all the way back to March 2020. I’m sat in Geneva airport staring L at the departures board as one plane after another gets cancelled. Several nervous hours later, I’m extremely lucky to board one of the last flights back to London as the whole of Europe begins to shut down due to Covid.
When I arrive at the office the next day, in my role as the creative director for Guinness Africa, the real impact of what we were facing hit me. Everything we’d been working on over the past few months had been shelved almost overnight, as the drinks industry, among many others, came to an abrupt halt. Two weeks later I was made redundant.
