Aeroplane | Handley Page Victor
The Handley Page Victor was an impressive machine. It was one of several new bombers born out of the devastation of World War Two, but despite its late 1940s design, the powerful jet’s striking features make it look ‘futuristic’, even today.
Like its V-Bomber siblings, the Valiant and the Vulcan, it was developed during an age of urgent necessity, yet these machines guaranteed Britain’s aircraft industry remained centre stage in technology terms.
This 116-page publication tracks the Victor story right up to the present with the results of IWM Duxford’s five-year restoration of B 1A (K2P), XH648. It gives an insight into what will likely be the last major preservation project on one of Handley Page’s superlative jets.
