American Miniaturist  |  Issue 222
We all have that one magical day when we finally decide to put all the kits we have collected over the years together, and mine was just recently.
I had eight 1:24 furniture kits and two 1:12 kits that had been calling out for me this last year. What a great feeling to finally finish them! In our art form there are so many possibilities, which create an endless supply of ideas. I will say, my blog site has helped me get more organized, but my ideas are still stacking up in my notebook.
I find that writing them down is a nice way to enjoy those moments when I don’t have time to create, but do have a few seconds to daydream. Not every idea needs to come to fruition. It’s like that saying, “It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey.” It’s fun to fantasize and imagine things to make. I found myself limiting my dream time because I just don’t have enough time to create in miniature. But life is short so why not dream about everything by making sketches, notes, and putting photos in a journal? No harm done and if one day you have the time to make
it you can go for it. I think this method also helps you to see which idea will withstand the passage of time for you.
AM is full of so many fun little things to make. So if you like something you see, but it doesn’t fit what you’re building at the moment, make it anyway. You can save it for later or give it away, but one thing is for sure, you will enjoy the process of creating.
