American Waterfowler  |  October 2025
The 2025 Waterfowl Season is in full swing in the north and about to happen farther south. It’s the best time to be a waterfowler! We begin our fall season with a seldom heard dog training message—Train while you’re in the field. We all know those days when the flight ends early. If you’ve got a few bumpers or a couple of ducks in the bag, do some in-field training. Chris Yielding tells you how to make the most of it and keep your dog sharp, and happy too!
Ever wished you had your own private duck spot. Everyman Art Isberg tells us how his Duck Club dream came true. Warning: elbow-grease required!
And how about those greenheads, and greenwings, and drake wigeon with their green colors. Solo hunter Ron Peach puts them all together in thisi Mid-Season Hunt piece.
Finally, it’s gonna get colder, and that’s hard on our best friends. “Safety First,” says dog man James Davis with the how and why.
