Statements from candidates standing in the Mid Argyll ward in the local government elections on Thursday May 4

Donnie MacMillan Independent

I WAS born and brought up in Kilmichael Glassary and – apart from three years in the RAF at the end of the war – have worked in Argyll all my life.

There are a lot of decisions for the new council to make, including care for the elderly in the community and ensuring housing is of a standard to meet the needs of tenants.

There needs to be continued support for organisations like Mid Argyll Community Pool, Citizens’ Advice and many others. Facilities for our young people must also be improved.

I also believe that the £2 million allocated to the roads budget must be used in a responsible manner.

I will once again be standing in this election as an independent candidate and always wish to be responsible to the people whom I represent.
