Q&A
Our health expert Dr Christian Jessen answers your medical queries
Q. My cum is a different colour to my boyfriend’s – it’s more yellow and much thicker. Is something wrong? Ryan, Luton
A. If you’ve had a recent STI check and you don’t think you are at any significant risk of a sexually transmitted infection, then there is probably nothing wrong. Cum comes in a wide variety of consistencies and variations on shades of white, grey or yellow. This can change with time. Your level of hydration, the frequency you have sex, and the length of time you spend in foreplay or having sex all can affect colour and consistency. Go to see a GP if you are worried. Provided you have no pain, no discharge discomfort, and your recent sexual health checkups are all clear, then you can relax.
