Jaguar are going high voltage. While the UK government has announced it will ban the sale of petrol cars by 2030, the premium car manufacturer is charging ahead and aims to have a fleet of fully electric vehicles on sale from 2025. The company have moved with the times in other ways, too, including going the extra mile to recognise and celebrate their LGBTQ+ employees, who include Markus Carlson, the company’s national communications manager. Here, Carlson, who left Sweden to join the wellknown brand nearly a decade ago, explains how Jaguar has gone beyond simply rainbow-washing for Pride month, as well as revealing his favourite campaigns and the shocking difference between Sweden and the UK when it comes to office politics.
How long have you been working for Jaguar?
I have been a petrolhead for as long as I can remember, although I suppose nowadays I have to call myself a ”car enthusiast” as we are fast moving towards electrification.
