The Airbus A380-800 is due to make its reintroduction within the British Airways (BA) fleet –a move the UK flag carrier said came “earlier than expected”. From December, BA confirmed the Toulouse-built super jumbo is set to be deployed on initial services between London/Heathrow and Dubai, Los Angeles and Miami. Interestingly, ahead of this, in November, the A380 will temporarily operate crew familiarisation flights to several short-haul destinations which, according to BA’s booking search engine, show Frankfurt and Madrid.
CMA CGM is to further expand its newly created presence in the air cargo market, ordering a pair of Boeing 777Fs direct from the manufacturer, which it plans to have operate under a French Air Operator Certificate (AOC). The widebody jets will supplement four Airbus A330-200Fs acquired at the start of this year, which have since been placed with Air Belgium and operated from Liège on links to Chicago, Atlanta, New York and Dubai.
