on November 1, London Coin Galleries and Fritz Rudolf Künker offered the second part of the former Preussag collection – the largest group of lösers and mining thalers ever assembled. Included was this rare 1625 löser struck in either Goslar or Zellerfeld. It features the arms of Friedrich Ulrich (1591-1634), duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg and prince of Wolfenbüttel, with an image of Saint Jacob to the verso. Estimated at £3000, it sold at £11,000.
IT was a tumultuous year. From sometimes dramatic staff movements to the migration of material from Germany, the face of the London numismatic trade changed in 2016.
