Unpalatable decisions ahead
In some ways it is like Groundhog Day, but yet again we are looking at severe cuts in health and social care services. At last week’s Kilmory meeting of the board in charge of these services – see page 46 – there was frustration at the pace at which these proposed cuts have been brought to the table.
Maybe that has something to do with the enormity of what needs to be done. Once again our hospital beds, services for vulnerable people and other things taken for granted will be in the spotlight. The impact on staff was raised, quite rightly, at the IJB meeting, but there was no mention of the impact on patients and service users.
