Three young designers from Arran have been selected as regional finalists in the Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture competition for secondary school students. Kirstie Kerr, Joely Allison and Ellie Ewing were delighted to have been selected in the competition which celebrates fashion using everyday junk materials with the strong underlying ethos of recycling, re-using and environmental sustainability.
And now they will be travelling to Londonderry to take all-comers in the regional finals next month – and readers can vote too to help them win.
Earning their place in the regional finals, the group of girls, who were all previously members of the Arran High School mountain bike club, extolled the virtues and health benefits of cycling by basing their design on the sport and the engineering of the bicycles themselves.
