TAKING THE PACE
SO MANY pacemakers are not up to the job. It seems especially poor in men’s races where the first lap of a 1500m could be 53 seconds followed by a 57 on the second. Whenthe pacemaker drops out, runners are left tired and unable to accelerate and times are nowhere near their capabilties with a sensible pace.
