Australian Country  |  26.4
Our travels start in the NSW Southern Tablelands where we meet Sue Collings at her home that combines a cottage built during the influenza pandemic of 1918 with a barn added during the Covid crisis of 2020. We also visit artist James Gulliver Hancock and his partner, musician and co-director of Berry’s OpenField festival, Lenka Kripac, at their house in the bush at Brogers Creek in the NSW Illawarra region. There’s also a wonderful home at Paradise in WA’s south-west and an extraordinary 1880s house and garden at Crafers in SA’s Adelaide Hills. Our travel story takes us on a road trip through NSW, there’s a peek inside landscape architect Michael Bligh’s own garden at his home on the outskirts of Goulburn in the NSW Southern Highlands, and our Australian abroad story introduces avalanche technician Matt O’Rourke, who grew up in Cooma but these days lives at the Canadian ski resort of Whistler with his “hero” rescue dog, Eva. The issue is also packed with design and decorating inspiration.
