Aviation News  |  November 2013
In this 84-page issue of ‘Aviation News incorporating Classic Aircraft’ magazine we interview the President of Basler Turbo Conversions on their upgrade which gives new life to the aviation legend that is the DC-3/C-47. There is also an article on a former RAF Lightning in which you can experience an afterburner ride! Another classic type that unfortunately has just been retired is the VC10, so we have coverage of its final days in service. On the military front we also have an article on the recent Saudi-British exercise involving Typhoons and Tornados, plus a feature on Venezuelan Su-30 Flankers, the last RAF Leuchars airshow and details of the combat action that a US P-47 unit experienced in Europe.
For articles with a civil flavour there is one on London’s Gatwick Airport which has recently gone through a lot of changes thanks to its new owner, a profile of the Vickers Vanguard and its freighter version the Merchantman and a report from Europe’s largest vintage aircraft fly-in. There is also an item reviewing the latest aviation watches and this month’s Room with a View hotel is one that provides good photographic opportunities at Newcastle International Airport.
Along with some recent airshow highlights there is the latest civil, military and heritage aircraft news, plus much more.
