Attention to detail. Whether it’s writing a book, planning a surprise celebration for a loved one or, indeed, producing an issue of Breathe,
a keen eye for what’s there – as well as, in some cases, what isn’t –
is a crucial part of many tasks.
There’ll be times when things are missed, but mostly the attention to detail is there if not always consciously noted: the storyline stands up,
all the invitations go to the correct addresses with no one left off the list, the information is clear and accurate.
The same often happens in nature, though here the details are wondrous: the intricate beauty of a spider’s web, leaves slowly changing colour on a tree, a bird perched atop the thinnest of branches, pollinators busying themselves fertilising fruit and vegetables. These small, fleeting moments are frequently missed in the necessary process of navigating the maelstrom of life, yet to stop and observe them up close – even if only
for a minute – is a treat for mind, body and soul.
It’s also a reminder not to take them for granted. It might be the error or the unexpected that draws the crowd, but the myriad background workings that go to plan – both in life and nature – deserve just as
much attention. Because more often than not a lot goes right.
