THE SCOTTISH Government’s recent revaluation for 2017 has left small business owners in Kintyre feeling abandoned as rates are set to soar.
The increase comes as thousands of traders saw their property values rise in the latest valuation of non-domestic premises in Scotland.
Nick Fletcher, from the Argyll Hotel in Bellochantuy, said: ‘The Scottish Government needs to step up to the plate now and acknowledge that there is something wrong with the new system when a small business like ours, which is only three years old, is facing a hike of 338 per cent. This will have knock-on effects for the tourism and hospitality industry and for rural economies.’
