MADNESS
CAN’T TOUCH US NOW
BMG
★★★
With a new Madness album due soon, BMG’s decent vinyl reissue series ends just in time. Readily available and often in vinyl special offers, there’s no real need for their 2016 album to resurface, especially as there are no extras beyond new sleevenotes. Not one of their strongest LPs, at 16 songs there’s a lot of excess here. Still, Mr Apples is textbook yearning under the euphoric surface and the sinister Pam The Hawk has one of Lee Thompson’s finest sax solos. At its best, a reminder there’s no-one quite like them.
