Custom Car  |  Jul-23
Custom Car is a bit of an animal this month. A bit of a dinosaur, in fact. Truckasaurous has been evolving in the Valley Gas workshop for a long time… and now at last it’s here in its full glory. And a whole lot of glory that is.
This month also sees the unveiling of Paul Bacon’s latest creation, the distinctly monstrous Meat Wagon. Based on a London taxi, it’s a catering van like no other. You’ll be seeing it at shows the length and breadth of the country – and you saw it here first.
Talking of shows, with the season now in full swing this month we begin a three-part roundup of the NSRA’s Spring Rumble series. We’ve got the full story of the Festival of Power, too, and of the Offset Show – which might be associated with modern stance cars but is just crying out to be taken over by rods and kustoms.
There’s a cheeky ’32 Vicky in this issue too, along with a look back at the dawn of the flopper in British drag racing culture – which now dates back exactly half a century. What that we were saying about Custom Car being full of monsters this month…?
