make ahead special.
We have an SOS (save our sanity) plan to put to you: let’s make Stir-up Sunday a THING. The marking of the day, which falls just before Advent (it’s on 25 November this year), dates back to Victorian times and, traditionally, it was when the family would gather round to make – or at least stir – the Christmas pudding. It’s a part of our heritage worth reviving and, to make it more beneficial, Debbie Major has created eight get-organised recipes incuding a twist on Christmas pud, spiced rum mincemeat to use in a cake or traybake, plus boozy cranberries with myriad uses (they make great gifts), a freeze-ahead, slow-cooked chilli and a brilliant starter and party nibble. Make a day of it, then enjoy the fruits of your labours next month
