THOUGHTS ON…
Although my longsuffering husband endures endless accounts of my not very dashing ancestors and I satisfactorily admire his radio-controlled planes and cheer on his flying skills, we don’t really comprehend the intricacies of each other’s hobbies. Fortunately however we find common ground in historical dramas, for him plenty of mayhem preferably by cannon and/or sail and for me a chance to learn something new about the worlds my forebears may have lived in. (OK, also on the off chance one of my forebears is lurking in some dark corner; I just can’t help it and it’s akin to shaking the latest document by one corner to see if any more information falls out of it!)
For our recent wedding anniversary, feeling happily entitled by the darkest winter for years to wallow in binge watching TV mode, we treated ourselves to the box set of Sharpe, the 1990s TV series of the marvellous books by Bernard Cornwell.
