You don’t need a huge garden or even a patch of soil to grow a delicious and colourful medley of edibles to pick and eat this summer – and for many summers to come. Plenty of fruits, vegetables, salads and herbs thrive in pots if you choose the right varieties and give them a little attention, and now is the best time to start.
An edible garden in pots is a flexible approach that lets you move plants centre front as and when they are ready to pick and later swap them out. In this two-part series, I’ll explain how to make a delicious (and beautiful) edible garden in pots in a small space, using fruit trees and shrubs alongside colourful annuals that lend themselves to plentiful picking.
