MP Brendan O’Hara has written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Phillip Hammond, on behalf of 6,700 WASPI women across Argyll and Bute who have been hit by the UK government changes to the state pension age. Mr O’Hara said: ‘In Argyll and Bute, benefit claims for women over the age of 60 have increased drastically and it would appear a large number of these are from women who are athected by the changes to the state pension age. Before the autumn Budget on Monday, I wrote to the Chancellor to ask him to put things right and look again at what options are available to bring forward necessary funding to provide support for all athected WASPI women.’
