A HOTEL manager has been banned from driving and fined £975 by a sheriff after police were tipped off by a petrol pump attendant that the man had smelled of alcohol when he paid for filling up his car.
Henry Power, 40, of Ardnevis Road, Claggan, Fort William, was due to go on trial at Fort William Sheriff Court last week after denying driving a car at An Aird on the A82 and in Ardnevis Road on June 3 this year, with a breath alocohol level of 32mg in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 22mg.
Power had already tendered a plea of guilty at an earlier appearance to driving the car unsupervised while only holding a provisional licence.
