How to get moving in the summer months
As warmer weather rolls around, often our thoughts turn to health and fitness. If you’ve fallen out of love with being active, or perhaps need a little motivation to get started on your exercise journey, we’ve got some great ideas to get you moving.
Eat right
If you’re going to embark on any type of exercise routine, your body is going to need fuel. Take a look at what you’re currently eating on a daily basis and ask, ‘Is this giving me the right nutrition?’ Cutting out processed foods and focusing on natural whole foods is a great way to start upping your energy levels. Spinach, nuts, tofu, quinoa, beans and hemp are all excellent sources of protein which will help sustain you during activity.
Get in the habit
Making exercise a daily ritual is a sure fire way to stick to it and reap the benefits. Work out when you prefer to exercise — are you full of beans first thing in the morning? If so, set your alarm half an hour earlier and take a walk before work. Do you like to get the tensions of the day out in the evening? Then, make sure you pack your gym bag and head straight to the gym before you go home, to avoid being tempted by the sofa.
