Since 2017, almost 3.7 million people have been diagnosed with diabetes in the UK, and Diabetes UK (diabetes.org.uk) estimate around one million people have type 2 diabetes without knowing it. This is a scary statistic and shows us that our lifestyles need to change to decrease these evergrowing numbers. Thankfully, there is something we can do to reduce our risk of developing type 2 diabetes (or even reversing it if you have already been diagnosed) and that is to go plantbased. A high complex-carbohydrate, low-fat, vegan diet is excellent for preventing and treating diabetes type 2. Research has shown that 85-90 per cent of those who suffer with diabetes have type 2, and it is this form of diabetes that is largely lifestyle related.
