Plyometric or jumping exercises can help you boost your running performance without running more miles. The benefits of a plyometric workout for runners are that it will improve your overall cardiovascular fitness. It will also improve your push-off power, your ankle range of motion and leg strength. Lateral jumps will improve your stability muscles helping you to prevent injuries. Adding a plyometric workout to your running programme will help you to run more efficiently, increase your running speed and reduce fatigue.
Warm up
Run on the spot for one minute. Place your hands on your bottom and flick your heels up to your bum. Shuffle four steps right and four steps left. Repeat the warm up twice.
