Day job Assistant head teacher at Pearson Primary School, Hull
Te result Running 4hrs 14mins at Hull Marathon in September, taking 12 minutes off her marathon PB
Having spent her childhood and school years being bullied for her weight, Lucy Northen, aged 31, would fake illness to avoid PE lessons. Throughout university and her job as a teacher she felt traumatised by horrific childhood memories of PE lessons, and rode horses to find sanctuary.
Then, in her mid-20s, Lucy wanted to lose weight and get fit. From secretly going out running in the dark, Lucy built up to her first half-marathon (Hull Humber Half Marathon) then her first marathon in 2014 – London – which she completed in 4hrs 52mins.
