We’re often told of the importance of goals if we want to step beyond our current limits in running – or any other area of life. But many of us have a mixed experience of goal-setting, sometimes finding ourselves motivated, yet other times coming up short. Why is it that our experience can vary so much, and how can we adapt our approach to set ourselves up for success?
While many of us blame ourselves if a goal goes unrealised, interestingly it’s actually in the goal-setting process that the solution invariably lies. Specifically, are we setting ourselves compelling or compromising goals?
