When I went into work on the first day of 2017, I had no idea I’d be walking out of the office at home-time with a book commission. But that’s what happened. I was asked to write a book on women’s lives in Leeds as part of a local history series to commemorate the 2018 centenary of (some) women getting the vote for the first time.
And then, as if that wasn’t thrilling/ exciting/nerve-wracking enough, a couple of months later a publisher who had read one of my short stories asked if I had enough for a collection. Which has to be a dream come true, for me or any other writer.
