BMW M2
New junior sports coupé arrives in UK with 453bhp and – get this – a manual gearbox
TESTED 6.6.23, WARWICKSHIRE ON SALE NOW
It’s noticeably brawnier than the old M2 Competition but handles a bit less eagerly
High inflation seems to be a handy smokescreen for car makers looking to make extra profits, doesn’t it? Translating the 2016 launch price of the original BMW M2 (£46k) into today’s money, it might be reasonable to expect the second-generation sports coupé to start at £60k, rather than £65k. But it’s not that simple: as we’ve already discovered, this is a more powerful, more mature and more technical M car than any of its predecessors.
