Renault tech cuts charge cost
Renault 5 will be one of the first to use vehicleto-grid charging
RENAULT’S HIGHLY anticipated 5 EV will be equipped with vehicleto-grid (V2G) charging as standard – which, the firm says, could slash customers’ charging costs by up to 50%. The brand’s smallest EV will be its first to be equipped with bi-directional charging, which will allow customers to plug their car into the grid and either charge it overnight to take advantage of cheaper rates or return power to the grid when demand is high. Renault will eventually introduce this on all of its EVs, including the current Mégane and upcoming Scenic.
