MP4/4 was untouchable with Senna and Prost but not invincible
Max Verstappen could equal Ayrton Senna’s tally of 41 Formula 1 wins this weekend at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. The late, great Brazilian would have relished the position in which the double champion finds himself, in a Red Bull team that has handed him an out-of-sight performance advantage over the rest of the grid.
Even his own team-mate can’t live with him right now. As recently as the Azerbaijan GP, Sergio Pérez was triggering talk of an intrateam title fight, but it was always wishful thinking. Following a trio of victories and five from seven races this season, Verstappen is 53 points ahead of the only other driver armed with the power to beat him.
